Michael sings in the second tenor section of the choir which he joined in 1996 after a chance remark made to a work colleague resulted in him contacting Roy Waller, a long serving member.
He has a fairly extensive musical background. His singing began as a chorister at Worcester College, Oxford before he changed to playing clarinet and saxophone in orchestra and band. He later reverted to singing with Reading Bach Choir and Reading Male Voice Choir (of which he was a member for fourteen years before moving to Maidstone). He also appeared with the Reading Operatic Society in a number of musicals.
Michael was at University for six years which included a research degree and has worked for a number of engineering companies with substantial overseas interests. He was involved in the sale of high-value capital equipment used in the manufacture of cable, wire and tube products. Before retirement, his job presented Michael with extensive travel opportunities and he has visited countries as diverse as Iran, Japan, Poland, China, USA and most of western Europe.
His sporting activities now include sailing and golf after giving up his lifetime involvement in playing squash. He and his wife Helen are needless to say, proud grandparents of a grandaughter.
We are glad you moved to Kent Mike - Reading MVC's loss is our gain.
