Kent Police Male Voice Choir

John Apsey

This page was first published in November 2015

John originally hails from Bromley and attended Quernmore Boys School where he first started singing in the school choir. Since those days he has always enjoyed music and singing, but up until recently he hadn't continued in any choir since leaving school.

John eventually moved to Maidstone and he married his wife Roz in 1965. He has had various jobs in the Maidstone area, the last being with Royal Mail with whom he spent twenty eight years.

When he retired, he joined The Young at Heart entertainment group and began singing again, performing shows at various nursing homes in the Maidstone area, with all proceeds going to The Heart of Kent Hospice. It was in 2015, that John joined Kent Police Male Voice Choir through the encouragement of another member, David Frost. John now sings with the first tenor section.

John and Roz both play bowls for Hunton Bowls Club, where he has been captain since 2009 and has now been elected as chairman of the club. As a new member he is looking forward to taking an active part in the choir and performing at concerts.

Welcome to our choir John, we sincerely hope you enjoy our company and singing with us.
