Bob sings in the baritone section and has resumed friendships with several of his former police colleagues since joining the choir.
He joined the Kent Police as a cadet after leaving school. Following three years as a cadet, he left to do his national service in the army. After this, he joined the colonial police service in Nyasaland, spending six very happy and satisfying years there. Unknown to him at that time, our former musical director David Vening was also serving in Africa in the Northern Rhodesia Police.
Bob rejoined Kent Police in 1964 and served twenty eight years before retiring. He has always taken an interest in choral singing, encouraged by African and Welsh choral music in particular. He occasionally attended some of our concerts and was eventually encouraged to join us by his wife and former police colleagues.
