Kent Police Male Voice Choir

Barry Boulton

Barry's interest in choral singing began when his voice broke in 1944 and he was encouraged by an enthusiastic music master when at Sevenoaks School. He sang with various mixed voice choirs until 1970 when a chance encounter with a chorister of Cwmbach Male Choir led him to join them. He was eventually made a life member.

Working in forty countries overseas made attendance at Cwmbach difficult, so he joined the Royal Tunbridge Wells Orpheus Male Voice Choir. In 2004 he succeeded in his voice test for the London Welsh Male Voice Choir and sang with them until 2015, concluding with a concert on 20th June where it all started, Sevenoaks School. The next day he formally applied to join Kent Police Male Voice Choir and Barry sings in the bass section.

He worked as a qualified Safety Practitioner, including twenty years as Group Safety Adviser for Rentokil, retiring from private practice in 2004. He has been married to Marie for fifty seven years, they have two sons, three grandchildren and live in Boughton Monchelsea. His hobbies are photography, railway modelling and gardening.

Welcome to our choir Barry and thank you for bringing your impressive singing experience to our ranks.
